This is why investing is simple but it’s not easy, especially in the technology field. Consumer tastes are fickle, and more so with a device that can be mostly replaced with a do-it-all-device like an iPhone. The iPhone is not geared towards sports/high-impact video creation, but when you consider that getting such video would take a $400 GoPro, the average consumer will decide to do without. Or they might go for lower-cost alternatives. This quarter, GoPro took it on the chin. Generally, I stay away from investing in technology companies, with a few exceptions.
GoPro Inc. said Thursday it swung to a deep loss in the first quarter, spotlighting the uphill battle the action-camera maker faces in broadening its customer base, though sales beat market expectations.
